Why now?

"Faithfulness isn't maintaining - faithfulness is growing"

1) More people will be saved by Jesus through our church plant, The Bridge

Since launching in January 2013, The Bridge has grown to over 100 in attendance with 170 people presently calling The Bridge their church home. This has happened while worshipping in the LBJ elementary school. We believe that momentum will translate into a tremendous ministry impact for reaching hundreds of new people once we are able to establish an attractive and conspicuous presence in the form of a multi-purpose building in the north Odessa mission field. This area is a premier area for real estate developers who already have plans to construct new housing for new families who represent our greatest potential for making new disciples for Jesus Christ!

2) We have momentum with our downtown campus

God is bringing us into a new season at FUMC. We believe we have been called to offer an outstanding worship experience regardless of style. Yet instead of attempting to offer our best horizontal or performance-driven worship, we are attempting a much greater and God-honoring goal: to be known as a place where God regularly unveils His glory to and through His people.

Our aim is to be known as a people who worship the Lord in a timeless, authentic, Spirit and Truth driven way, while also regularly experiencing the manifest, transcendent presence of God. As we send glory up, we believe He will send glory down in the outpouring of His Spirit.

We also sense that God is creating a new season of fruitfulness amidst our children and youth ministries. Rather than maintaining a separate or "siloed' version of ministry, we are moving toward a more holistic approach of "Cradle to College." Our children and youth are an incredibly important part of the body of Christ, and we intend on purposefully incorporating them into our time of worship, church-wide activities, and other opportunities.
