Welcome HomeVisiting a new place can be a stressful or scary experience. Questions such as, "Where do I park?" "Will I feel comfortable leaving my child with the childcare staff?" and, "How long will the worship service last?" may come to mind. Perhaps the most important question might be, "Will I even feel welcome here?" These are important questions that we've thought about too. Please know that we will make every effort to make your first experience with us as pleasant and positive as possible.

Services: Traditional at 9:00am, Sanctuary  |  Contemporary at 11:00am, Fellowship Center

7 Tips1) Wear what is comfortable

Who you are is far more important than the clothing you wear. so wear what feels comfortable to you (our Creative Arts Pastor regularly wears shorts in the summer months).

2) Parking at First United Methodist

Our main parking lot is on the south side of our campus, located at the intersection of 4th Street and Lee Avenue (This is the South Parking Lot). This is the best parking lot for our 9:00am service. In addition, there are two smaller parking lots, located on the west and north sides of our campus.
One is in between our Student Ministry Center and Fellowship Center, and the other is off of 5th Street across from our Fellowship Center.

3) A warm welcome

We will meet you at the door with a smile. As you spend time with us, you will experience the warmth and joy that is at First United Methodist. Our volunteers and staff will gladly assist you with any needs that come up, and are happy to answer any questions you might have.

4) 10am Sunday School

Our 10am Sunday School lasts from approximately 10:00-10:55am every Sunday, taking place in between our 9:00am and 11am services. You can learn about the Lord and build friendships with others at the same time as your children (or grandchildren) also learn.

5) Childcare, Children's and Youth Ministries on Sundays

Our nursery and childcare rooms are available throughout the morning. These rooms are located upstairs in our main building and are clearly labeled with door flags. There are two stairwells at either end of the south side of the building. Your child will be in an age-appropriate and secure place, growing in the knowledge of God while you participate in our services and studies.

Our Children's Ministry (PreK-Grade 5) gathers at 10:00am on the second floor of our main building
in room 206.

Our ECHO Student Ministry (Grades 6-12) meets in the Student Ministry Center at 10am.

6) Worship

First United Methodist offers two distinct styles of worship. We have worked hard to provide you the best opportunity to experience the full story of God and grow in your faith. Our constant aim in worship is to ascribe glory to God, declare the truth of Scripture, and enter His presence with praise.

Our 9:00am service follows the flow of worship prescribed by the Methodist hymnal. The praise choir, organ and piano accompany the congregation in the singing of hymns. The feel of the service is both formal and heartfelt. There are occasional special musical offerings by instrumentalists and vocalists. This service finishes in 60 minutes or less.

Our 11:00am service fuses the ancient practices of the church with a fresh expression. The music is led by a worship team and reinforces the theme of the service. Prayers, calls to worship, the reading of Scripture, Christian creeds, and confession are interwoven into the service to create an ancient but future style of modern worship. The service length is typically 65 to 70 minutes.

7) Teaching

Pastor Todd Salzwedel has a passionate, exegetical approach to his teaching. He connects
the truths of the Bible to practical, everyday life experiences. There are often visual aids
on the screens and in the bulletin to help you get the most out of the message.
